Atlanta was our next stop. All 19 of us checked our luggage, and began what seemed like a 5 mile trek through the airport, grabbed some lunch and boarded to plane. Our flight was to leave at 3:20.
Around 4:00 I seriously began to get a little anxious and became curious to why we were delayed. We found out from the flight attendant that the computer was showing one less person than the actual count of people on the plane. They counted everyone several times. The next step would be everyone exit the plane and check back in. The flight attendant then over the loud speaker asked if there was a Gary Cox, yep we call him Brandon. Somehow the computer didn't check him in so Brandon was the mysterious person that wasn't accounted for that took an hour and a half to realize.
Our flight was a direct 4 hour flight into Pheonix, Az where the pastor of Grace Fellowship, Jay met us to pick us up. I did get super sick on take off and landing... But totally held it together and didn't throw up!
Our ride to the place we were staying was over two hours, so we stopped halfway and had dinner at In and Out, which we learned is a Christian based restaurant with bible verses on all wrappers and cups! Pretty cool!
Next, we arrived at the church office that will be our home for the next 7 days. After a trip to Walmart, blowing up 19 air mattresses, many showers between 2 bathrooms, talks of 11 different rattlesnakes, scorpions, tarantulas, and an awesome prayer time with the girls, it is now 12:52 AZ time, which is two hours behind Alabama.
It has been quite an eventful day, but I would expect nothing less of a mission trip. I'm confident this trip and this team were ordained by God to do His work. There were a few distractions and things thrown at us today, but our tasks remains the same... To share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Please pray for opportunities, strength, safety and rest. We are excited to see God work and give Him ALL the glory.
