Today began really early since we weren't adjusted to the time change. I finally feel asleep around 3:00 in the morning, only with the help of melatonin, and woke up around 5:30. Surprisingly, though I was okay all day, until I got still right before dinner and nothing in me wanted to get up off my comfy air mattress :)
We all got ready for the day and went to meet as a team for a morning devotion and prayer time. We met outside, where it felt amazing with God's masterpiece of landscapes served as our backdrop. Randy led us in a few hymns acapella and it was a beautiful sound. We also had a devotion led by Adam, in which He discussed the fact that our intensity of worship directly impacts our mission efforts. Personally, God used this to challenge my heart, my worship and my desire for mission work.
Next, we headed to help Grace Fellowship (the church plant we are partnering with for VBS this week) set up and worship with them this morning. The first worship song the band played was "We Are Your Church". I couldn't help but smile and think of my sweet Emma. Randy leads this song at Glory, and one of the lyrics says "set this church on fire..." One time Randy sang this song and Emma, my little thinker, asked Eric why Mr Randy wants to set our church on fire :). (Little side note)
Lindsey, Chris, Kacie and myself went back to kids church to hang out and assist with the kids. The kids were precious and we were able to invite each one to VBS.
We had lunch and then headed to the school to decorate for VBS. It went well thanks to the amazing decorating team headed up by Teresa. Wow- she showed out. We had written instructions with everything shipped or packed for us. We still have a few details to finish but I feel great about what was accomplished. I'm so thankful for the effort and direction of Teresa and her team.
We then headed back to our home for the week to have an awesome home cooked dinner by Tammy, Amy and Adam. Grilled chicken, grilled corn, baked beans, salad and fruit definitely hit the spot after all the fast food dinners the last few days.
Impressively, a few of our youth, on their own, got flyers and began to canvas the neighborhood to invite people to VBS. This was such a blessing to see God working in their lives and them being obedient.
After dinner most of our group went for a stroll around the neighborhood right at sunset. The colors of the skies were amazing. It never ceases to amaze me the creativity of God's creations.
Today was a great day. After a few set backs, bumps in the road and unexpected circumstances, God is continuing to reveal to us a team, as well as individuals that He called us here for a purpose. He used new friends, devotions, notes or texts from church members, and conversations within the team to begin to ignite a fire and excitement to begin our camps tomorrow. :)
P.S. I was able to FaceTime my sweet little family this morning and it helped my spirits tremendously.
